HJSplit is a popular freeware program to be able to split and recombine files. The method is available on Windows, Linux together with a variety of other platforms. So why should one want to split and recombine files? For instance, think of some sort of file of 50 Mb, trying to mail it to a friend, post that in a newsgroup or upload that into a Website or FTP server.
